Vacation is finally here!  We depart internationally in T-minus whatever.  Looking forward to our trip and all the adventures it has in store.  Thrilled to be ringing in the holiday and new year with our favorites.  All the best to you and yours!

Fall Break!

Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Finally!  It has been such a busy and stressful season at work -- the overtime these past few months has been ugly.  I'm so thrilled to finally reclaim a bit of that time and have a much-needed break!  Vacation officially started on Friday night!

Fall is my very favorite and it doesn't disappoint.  So far, it's been great fun as we've done our fair share of celebrating lately for both life (birthdays!) and love (anniversaries!).  I'm excited for this week and the adventure and restoration it has in store!  And finally cleaning out the thousands of pictures on my phone!

P.S.  4-3!  Hanging tough.

This Is What You Came For

Saturday, October 1, 2016

This time of year proves to be a fun and busy season! Since our college years, we have affectionately termed August - February as our gauntlet. One thing after the other. But the good things! Birthdays, anniversaries, birthdays, concerts, birthdays, holidays, birthdays!

Last weekend, we celebrated our anniversaries with a weekend away and north.  The weather was on its best, beautiful behavior and we explored, hiked, watched sunsets, and found a few moonstones for good measure.  The lovely pottery shop didn't hurt either -- tucked away in the tiniest town with a population of 18!

We've been to two concerts in the past three weeks!  The first was with our favorite people, eating favorite food, in my favorite boots!  Foot stomping may have been involved!  Last night was with my favorite person, at our favorite venue, in our favorite city.  It was an unbelievable show -- my first live blues experience!  Weekend, you look real good.  We're beach bound.  Let's dance!

The Beach, Cookies, and Other Stuff

Sunday, July 31, 2016

It's been a fun summer! We've squeezed in a lot of adventures and I'm afraid I've nearly maxed out my phone storage (again!) due to all my captures. We had another beautiful beach weekend on our hands and it was much needed.

As expected, work is super stressful right now and I had my fair share of bad days last week. People, teachers...I tell you.  Husband sweetly surprised me with lunch and a cookie on a day that was particularly challenging. It was the highlight of my day, hands down. Love is lunch and a cookie. It really is. And finishing our beloved Peaky Blinders! We can't wait for the fourth season!

Feeling restored for one hot minute, the week ahead will be fast and furious. It's a busy, short week and we'll find ourselves out-of-state by Friday. It begins!

Yesterday at noon, vacation officially began!  Twelve days are looking real good.  Serious lifesavers.  We have both plans and no plans.  To me, those are the best kinds.  Love is an icy, salty margarita with extra lime.  He knows me.

P.S.  No longer waitlisted.  Enrolled!

Waitlisted

Thursday, June 16, 2016

Last week, school concluded and is finally out for summer!  I've decided I would like a summer break from teachers!  Easier said than done.  At work, my summer season is even more intense and deadline driven than usual.  A tremendous turnaround in an extremely limited period of time.  You always think you have time and you don't.  It's a crunch.  But hey, that upcoming vacation time is looking real good!

I've got summer plans and dreams.  I hope one of them will begin next week!  Being on a waitlist is just the worst.  And it's my own fault!  It really is.  I was scared!  And after that, energized and inspired!  And then, waitlisted.  That snooze you lose thing has always been true.  Fingers crossed!  Until then, I'm looking forward to the weekend!  The summer sun decided to finally make its debut and I can't wait to spend time in the sand and sun with my favorite.  Plus, I have a healthy stack of beautiful books that have been staring me for weeks!

P.S.  I placed third in fantasy basketball this year.  Third in basketball and football.  Clearly, three is my number this year.

P.P.S.  Also, we're not watching the NBA Finals for the first time in years.  We're boycotting and it's strange.  We've watched regular season and ALL the playoffs and semi's.  Couldn't watch those two teams face off again.  For the second year in a row, it's like choosing the best of two evils.  I'm hopeful that next year, we'll cheer a team on to the very end.  As long as they aren't the Warriors.  Or Cavaliers.  But no, really not the Warriors.  I give up.

Everything is Blue

Friday, May 27, 2016

Half day, I love you. My 3.5 day weekend is looking real good! And it couldn't come at a better time. It continues to be a wild season at work with major deadlines and pesky people. Don't even get me started!

This is one of my favorite pictures -- I can remember exactly how I was feeling in this moment. Last month, the sun decided to shine all weekend long and we spent both Saturday and Sunday in the salt, sand, and sun. A few days prior, it was an intense week AND I was called to jury duty (and finally excused from a three week trial!). It was the best end to the worst week. I'm convinced there's nothing better than a warm beach day with a picnic, juicy book, my love, waves, and good company. Well, maybe including an icy and salty margarita, but I digress. Weekend, we've got plans for you!

Enjoy!

Tonight, Tonight!

Friday, May 13, 2016

Weekend, you look real good! It's about time! It seems everyone was feeling sprinkles of "Friday the 13th" ALL WEEK. Eighteen days, eighteen days. It was a little touch and go, and I was feeling seriously punchy at work today, but we made it! These past few weeks have been a complete whirlwind with places to be and faces to see. We're thrilled to have a weekend to ourselves that looks like, well, whatever we want it to look like. I'm convinced no plans are often the best plans. My heart is full and light. Love is fresh wildflowers and frozen chocolate covered bananas. You can quote me on that. Dance party, commence!

Three Cheers

Friday, April 8, 2016

Well!  Despite my assumption, our kitties were little champs and greeted us eagerly as we returned from our road trip.  In past experiences, a little cold shoulder is par for the course, but it's nice to be sweetly surprised from time to time.  The weather was beautiful over the weekend and they thoroughly enjoyed the warm sun, light breeze, and napping face first in our freshly bloomed flowers.

We had the best time on our trip!  And, we have loads of pictures to share.  But first, it's Friday.  It's been a strangely productive week at work -- a shocking rarity after returning from vacation.  I sincerely thank the phone and email gods for being slightly kind and showing me grace.  Knocking down projects left and right -- boom, boom, boom, check, check, check!  For that, I'm grateful.  But know it won't last!  Also, excited for a fun night ahead with our favorites.  In our favorite city.  At our favorite place.  There will be laughing.  Serious food and merriment.  And, Joe Rogan.

P.S.  The Masters!

Spring Break!

Friday, March 25, 2016

At long last!  You're a dream come true.  We've got big, beautiful plans and quite the road trip ahead.  Kitties will make us pay for this later: "We're so glad you're home!  We love you forever and ever!  Oh, wait!  Leave us alone -- we're pissed!"

Cheers.

Leap Year

Monday, February 29, 2016

You can find me here, thanks. Leap Year on Leap Day! How fitting. It's one of my trusty favorites -- I confess it's on rotation all year long. I do what I want.

In other news, a bonus! And a raise! I'll take it, but it still doesn't make all that chaos and overtime worth it. Truth.

P.S. Not ready for March! It's so bossy.

Snowy Sequoias

Saturday, February 27, 2016

A few days after Christmas, we spontaneously planned a day trip to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. It was a crisp 27 degrees and a major treat to explore and hike in the fresh snow. The park is beyond stunning -- there is so much beauty and history within the land and trees. A grounding reminder of how small we are.

Luckily, it seemed the holiday break and weather kept most visitors away. Yay for chains! It was so nice to have the majority of trails to ourselves -- there may have been a few snowball fights. Husband won. My trusty split pea soup was the perfect pick-me up at one of the scenic overlooks.  And, we found a rad wild huckleberry syrup. As if we needed another reason to return. Warmer months, we're coming for you. Thanks for the sweet, snowy memory.

It's a four-day weekend!  My valentines are out!  Aren't they cute?  My heart is full and light.  And the weather is just beyond beautiful.  It's very "cherry lips, crystal skies" or something.  Can't wait to celebrate with my love!  First up, our Friday date night and dance party!  Hip hip!

I Almost Forgot

Thursday, February 4, 2016

No, I didn't! Third place was all mine! Third! 12-4! The playoffs were super stressful and I could have taken the WHOLE thing if it weren't for a certain running back on the Arizona Cardinals having the GAME OF HIS LIFE! David Johnson, I'm looking at you. But I forgive you. You've made a new fan of me. And, I can finally enjoy Sundays. Husband too. I don't know who likes that more. Until next year!

P.S. 10-4 in basketball!
