Snowy Sequoias

Saturday, February 27, 2016

A few days after Christmas, we spontaneously planned a day trip to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. It was a crisp 27 degrees and a major treat to explore and hike in the fresh snow. The park is beyond stunning -- there is so much beauty and history within the land and trees. A grounding reminder of how small we are.

Luckily, it seemed the holiday break and weather kept most visitors away. Yay for chains! It was so nice to have the majority of trails to ourselves -- there may have been a few snowball fights. Husband won. My trusty split pea soup was the perfect pick-me up at one of the scenic overlooks.  And, we found a rad wild huckleberry syrup. As if we needed another reason to return. Warmer months, we're coming for you. Thanks for the sweet, snowy memory.
