Thankful

Friday, April 19, 2013

It's Friday. It's been a rough week for our nation and international world. I'm convinced it comes in waves. I hope we can learn to take comfort in the love and goodness that surrounds us even if we don't always see it. Here's to being thankful for the haves and letting go of the have-nots. For appreciating ourselves and lives despite seeming imperfections. We are enough and should let others know they are too.

Wishing you a happy and safe weekend. Our plans are to have no plans, which sometimes is the best plan of all. No matter what, we will be having a serious timeout to celebrate the Earth and all its wise, beautiful ways. Be well!

Comfort dogs Ruthie and Luther ready and waiting with their bags packed for Boston.

Boston. There are no words, so I won't even try. It wouldn't be sufficient. You are on our minds and in our hearts. We're hoping, wishing, and praying for you. These guys from K-9 Parish Comfort Dogs are on their way. There is kindness; there is community; there is love -- we just have find it and be it. Let's be it together.

Well-Rested

Monday, April 8, 2013

Hope you had a lovely and relaxing weekend! As previously mentioned, I found myself with a few free days last week. They were absolutely glorious and completely grounding -- I had a new adventure each day, each one leading me farther and farther away from my day-to-day grind. Amazingly, it feels as though my cozy, cream, open-design cubicle never even existed. And yet, it does. As I will rediscover this morning, along with an angry inbox. Yay.

Despite my return to the "real world," this much-needed break from the hamster wheel has allowed me to actually rest and relax with my husband, kitties, family, and friends. For me, that's quite the accomplishment, as I find myself having an eternal dialogue about needing time to relax, but when I actually have it, I sometimes stress about relaxing. Again, the challenge of saying versus doing. But, I'm learning. Learning about learning. Learning about doing and not doing. About letting go. And while balance is desired, we cannot have it all. And that's okay.

Hope your week is kind and you find time for yourself. Even if just a moment to relax, breathe, and/or stretch, I hope you'll take it. We all need it -- even if we try to convince ourselves otherwise. Be well!

Constant Conversations

Sunday, April 7, 2013

Do you ever find yourself sharing the same ideas, goals, and conversations over and over? And, over? My husband, the ever-constant listener and professional feedback-giver, has listened to my rants, rambles, and thoughts for years on end. Likewise, I have also been his sounding board and cheerleader. Finally tiring of our own talk, we declared that this would be THE YEAR in which we implement some of our long-standing hopes and dreams -- whether big, small, personally, professionally, or otherwise. Simply, to turn thought into action. To just do it. By nature, I am completely risk-averse, but I'm ready to leave my comfort zone in the dust and press on. It has to be done.

Do you find yourself in a similar situation? Instead of just talking about wanting certain things to be different, we actually want to make it happen. That saying stuff is easier than the doing, but we're game! What goals do you have for 2013? It's already April, so let's get going and be brave together!
