Salt and Sage

While I admit that fall is my favorite season, summer always has a special magic and runs a close second. We were lucky to spend the Summer Solstice on our favorite secluded beach. Sand, sun, salt, and sea always make for a perfect day. Always. After reading, napping, and a bit of basking, a sunset picnic on J's trusty tailgate was in serious order. Just when it couldn't get any better, it did. A moon-lit drive! That Strawberry Moon sure meant business! Our favorite winding road didn't disappoint -- the summer scents came alive! Alfalfa, sage, and jasmine! It's been a little rough in recent weeks, but our recent adventure was a pretty perfect start to the summer season. I hope it's going to be a fun one -- I have high hopes!

Tonight is the night! My dearest dear friend is ringing in a new year! And we're celebrating by getting fancy for a girls night out. If there's any excuse to wear pretty things and glittery heels, a birthday is it. Oh, yes! Here's to you, lady!

It Feels Like

Rest

The body is an amazing thing. After my rough and tumble last week, I've been on the serious mend. And mend it has. I'm not perfect or completely 100%, but I'm getting better everyday. And coming to terms that I just might have a small, super sexy scar within my right eyebrow. I've been told countless times throughout this past week how lucky I am. And that it could've been much worse. So I'll take it.

Last week, I thought about a lot of things. Some things were important; others were not. But that husband of mine. Oh, man. As if I couldn't like him or love him any more than I already do. Well, I do. It is possible. Also, I'm grateful for this beautiful thing called sleep. When you haven't been having it, having it is just yummy. I eased back into the work scene on Monday. Eyebrow and all. Thursday, we can do this.

All Stitched Up

So. The great week I originally had in mind is kind of getting off to a rough start. Long story very short, I'm absolutely okay and completely healthy, but now have a super sexy set of stitches on my right eyebrow. That's what a fun day in the ER will get you. I'm on strict orders to rest, rest, and rest, (the husband and kitties are quite bossy!), so my goal this week is to, well, rest. And to eke out a few work days later this week if possible. Life has such a way of letting you know who's boss. Clearly, I'm not. While I'm not totally stoked on my new accessories, I know it could've been worse and am hoping the speedy skin gods get to it so I can get these bad boys out on Saturday. 

Here's to hoping for a better rest of the week. I won't tempt fate and ask what else could possibly go wrong. Because I don't want to know.

It's Here Again

I don't know how it happened, but June is here. And so is June Gloom. That guy is really punctual. We had a cozy weekend and my gem-hunting dreams came gloriously true. I'm happy to say that we spent a good portion of Saturday rifling through rocks, minerals, and gems. Gushing was involved. After many months of dreaming and serious online perusing, I'm finally able to call a super special crystal my very own. Good things do come to those who wait.

It's Monday. We can do it! All the best for a happy week ahead! I think it's going to be a good one.
